Carolina over at Brinkbeest in English (I think she does in Dutch, too) was tagged in a meme. There seems to be a lot of that going around. You can see her post here. She also has a really nice photoblog.
She's way too nice and didn't tag anyone else... just asked for volunteers. I figured what the hey, I can answer those questions... and since I wasn't tagged, I don't have to tag anyone else. So here are the questions and responses... played straight:
1. What was your favourite back to school item to buy?
Every year it seemed like I needed a new jacket. I'm not sure if it was buying the jacket or just shopping for it... or maybe it was the one on one time with my mom?
2. What was your favourite subject in school?
That's really easy. It was reading, followed by spelling. I like them because I didn't have to study.
3. Did you ride the bus or get a ride from Mom/Carpool?
I rode my by mostly, except when it rained. Then it was the bus. Mom only drove if the bus was missed on a rainy day.
4. Do you have a sack lunch or cafeteria food?
Sack lunch, except on Wednesdays, when they had hot dogs in the cafeteria. That is after they built the cafeteria. Before that we had to bring lunch.
5. What is your favourite memory from your school days?
The last day of school before summer vacation.
Oh. I guess I forgot to mention that she writes in English English rather than American Englush. Hence the extra letter in favorite.

Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThere really are several categories of memes, aren't there? (1) Yours and Carolina's - which would constitute the ever-so-friendly and pleasant "Volunteer meme". (2) The "Guilt meme", which usually includes a statement like "nobody loves me, please pass along my meme so that I don't seem so pathetic." The "Violent/Aggressive meme" - which usually goes along the lines of "Pass along my meme and TAG me, or your dog will die in 24 hours".
There's a blog in there somewhere.
Aahhh, you're sweet! But you knew that already ;-) I know 'sweet' isn't probably the word that you'd use to describe yourself with, or perhaps it is, what do I know, but you are.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm not sure if I write English English. It's all rather confusing. I also write colour and not color. Is that English English too? Or just plain wrong?
Ah, what the heck, as long as you understand what I'm trying to say.
I like that you picked up the meme and I also like your answers. I can picture you in your new jacket on your bike with your sack lunch on your way to school. Only the wild-eyed face with the big mustache doesn't really fit into this picture ;-)
Jane - I really don't have the patience... or the intelligence... to take on memes.
ReplyDeleteBTW - SJC isn't the only place that's overly sensitive to underwires. There's at least one courthouse in the North State that has been accused of the same thing.
Carolina - sweet is found nowhere in my autobiography. That said, nobody is precluded from using it.
Maybe I should have said British English, but then that probably would exclude Canadians and Aussies, who also have a penchant for overusing vowels.
You should have seen me delivering newspapers on my bicycle ;-D
